Lamborghini Barmherzigkeit-- Week 58

(I will give somebody money if they can email me with the correct definition/interpretation/source of that joke) This week was really busy! With the temple open again and my son's formation taking up all of our mornings, I'm very grateful our Standard is the branch standard. We got it this week, but it was kind of a close call. Had four center lessons this week alone, with six more on-plan for the very near future. I'm really glad we're getting more work there. We spent some time at the center this week working to better our presentation (make it more concise and powerful), and no lie, we started cutting a video. Nothing we filmed, but we wanted to take footage from a few sources for this video we're going to use for the Atonement section of our presentation, and I was feeling pretty good about that :) that being said, I am working with the greatness of Windows Movie Maker 2.6 (!), so it's a give and take process. My companion and I were the answer

"Swagg Biscuits" or: How I got a German-Spanish Son, a District, and a Temple. (and the Standard of Excellence)--Week 57

(this title brought to you by the minds of Elder Ford and Elder Harrah) (dialogue coach: Nick Riviera) This week was pretty hectic. Monday we had to grab the new Elders from the airport. I didn't get to go (dangit assistants). That being said, the Zone Leaders of Arue and Papeete (my zone leaders, Elledge and Ford), went to the airport to find out that 13 Americans just didn't show up. Ford and Elledge came home with just the two Frenchies and the German-Spanish duder. Luckily we had three beds for them. Tuesday was rather an adventure, as I got fixed with a French son for one day (Elder Mauclair). He's from Mayotte (an island above Madagascar). Then later in the day, I got the other French son with me as well (Elder Alfred, who's from the same stake as Elder Requillart; for those of you that remember the three days I was with him and Elder Darguence before the Marquesas.). It was funny to see how new they were. Then that night, we got another bed, but al

Having a Baby--Week 56

Pleasantries and introduction = skip Transfer news came. Elder Taurere is going to go and be a Zone Leader at Punaauia, and I'm going to stay here and be: -the District Leader of Fariipiti -the Director of the Visitor's Center at the Temple (and have thus achieved Zone Leader-level at the same time and will go to the great big leader-meeting at President Bize's house each month) -a trainer Lot of responsibility coming my way. I'm both nervous and excited. I've been really pondering on whether or not I'll be able to handle it all or whether I'm just too mentally handi-capped to even cope with all that and if my mind will just sort of collapse. I've certainly been praying about it a lot. I think it'll all be okay though. I've made it this far and done lots of other stuff I didn't think I could do, so I might as well do it again. Our baptisms went just splendidly. I finally had a reason to wear my white tie for the first tim

Went to the Temple-- Week 55

Image
Hey everyone! This week we got the Standard of Excellence (for the fourth week in a row), but it's been really hard. Our numbers weren't as obscenely high as the other weeks. This is kind of a rough sector. Still trying to find a good way to get our ward moving. We went to the temple this week, and honestly it was almost life-changing. All the doubts and hardships that have been building up over the last like 8 months and were all completely silenced in one morning. I literally received direct responses from the Lord to all my nagging questions and insecurities. We had to go the early morning and I was super tired, but I got out of that temple and I felt like I had just had a good night's sleep and could take on the world. It was truly miraculous. Church is true dude. There's just no other explanation. And I'm thankful to my loving Heavenly Father for looking out for me while I'm out here. I've really seen specific answers to my prayers this

I Send the Same Emails Over and Over-- Week 54

Image
Instead of sending the same email as last week (no lie, the only difference with this week was that we worked even harder and did even more splits with members and got 28 lessons (as well as the Standard of Excellence for the third week in a row)), here's a little something I found this week that I'd heard literally a million times before, but didn't realize we could take so literally: “We will attain our exaltation in the Celestial Kingdom only on the condition that we share with our Father’s other children the blessings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and observe the commandments that will enrich our lives here and hereafter.” -George Albert Smith 4 For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul; -Doctrine & Covenants 4:4 One of the senior missionary couples (the Caldwells) finished their mission just recen
