Another Week Bites the Dust-- Week 42

Ka oha nui as usual from the Marquesas - the land where we went fishing today, so who knows how long this email will be.


This week none of the investigators I wrote about worked out at all really (Catherine is going to take a bit more work than I thought, Suzanne still moves slowly, and we've still got to see Elaida again), but despite that, it was a pretty good week. We honestly just had a lot of fun. Literally no appointments worked out like ever, so we've been getting creative. We played a lot more sports this week, and kicked some serious trash and earned some serious respect from all the teenagers. No lie, Saturday when we were walking down main street, there was a party going on on the basketball/volleyball court, and EVERYBODY waved to us. It was great! And we knew them all from one time we played soccer. It's crazy, but people actually kind of like us now and wave to us. It's a pleasant change.

Apart from that I can't think of much else that happened. Honestly, it was a fun week and good stuff happened, it's just that I can't seem to remember. It's kind of messed up, but the mission really is just turning into life as usual now.

I find it a bit inappropriate to merely say what I did in this last week, here in my last  real  email, so I wanted instead to use this occasion to reflect and look back. ... and then yesterday we went into the city and afterwards spent a bunch of time with missionaries from some other zones, so we ended up having no time to do mail. Classy. So today I find myself pressed for time and without many words. I feel like the greatest summary of all I've felt and learned will be in my homecoming talk, but even so, I would honestly just like to take the time to say how much I love this gospel and how different my attitude towards the gospel and how to handle what's really important in life has changed so much, and I can't wait to continue to share this same beautiful and wholly  real  light that exists in this world, and is all that really counts. Pomme Poire Williams: "They Coming with Knives, They Coming with Guns"--Week 101

Longest. Week. Thank heaven it's over. Monday Chilled in this guy's sweet field and hung out with the goats there. It was very tranquil. Tuesday Work. We were busy from 10 am until clear into the night. We had a lesson every hour! I was grateful to have a full day of work, but at the same time, since I was feeling sick it was just kind of torturous. Wednesday Same deal. Super busy. Did a service project and helped plant pineapples. They had a lot of them in their field. The bushes that the pineapples grow from actually give forth to baby bushes too, and you just pluck them off the bush as if they were fruit and you plant them and you have more. Weirdest thing. Thursday A full day as well. The same as yesterday really only replace service project with weekly planning. For a moment we were pedaling our bikes and I just wanted to die. Just Another Week--Week 47

Ka oha nui from the Marquesas - the land where you use stepping stones to cross a river, and you do it with all the casualty and forgetability of crossing the street. This week, we had a pretty good lesson with Suzanne and her family. Really led by the spirit. Unfortunately, we had quite a difficult time engaging them. They didn't come to church, but even a simple invitation to pray about what we said didn't quite work either. We'll just keep trying I suppose. We fixed the hot water heater! Finally! After like 4+ months. It just wouldn't light. We asked around, and we weren't quite sure what to do, we tried some stuff, but we forgot one very crucial thing - gotta change the batteries. Of course. $4. Also, recently when we've been trying to play basketball on the court down by the beach, people have been wanting it so they can play soccer, and our showing up has sort of miffed them a bit.
